Anneke VanTricht, Office Mgr / Head Vet.Technician
Born in Belgium , I am the ‘almost’ spitting image of my identical twin. Track and field was our whole life and we reached the top, until a motorcycle accident ended my career. I have written and illustrated several books on track and field as guidelines for new coaches. I majored in biology and physical education and taught for 4 years in Belgium, also coaching in track and field and swimming. Some of my many diplomas and certificates from the United States, include: Early Childhood Education, Life guard, Fitness Education and Nutrition, and Veterinary Technology through the Penn Foster College. After teaching for 9 years in America I changed my career and started working for Dr Howell and Midway Animal Hospital in 2006 as a Vet Technician / Office Manager.
Ashley Zurbriggen, Veterinary Tech
Hello. I’m Ashley and I’ve been working at Midway Animal Hospital for approximately 8 years now starting in 2009. I became certified 4 years ago after I finished the Vet Tech program at SPC. I was born in California and then moved here to Florida in 1999. I have a number of pets at my home including a mastiff/boxer mix named Harley, Amy and Atti (both cats), Eli the parrot, and Nugget the guinea pig. Harley, Amy, and Atti were all rescues. I am heavily involved in many of the surgeries and dentals that take place here at Midway as well as the sole nutritionist. I enjoy kayaking, my favorite place being around the Dunedin Causeway. I also enjoy reading and have a massive collection of DVD’s having passed my goal of owning 500 DVD’s a few months ago. That about sums me up! Hope to see you soon.
Johan VandenBroeck, Manager
My name is Johan. I manage the reception area here at Midway. Sort of the backbone of the establishment, but I don’t like to toot my own horn. I started working at Midway around 2009. More often than not, I am the first face you see when you walk in. I am in school for business after switching out my major from psychology and criminal justice before that. I have a lab mix named Joey Ramone, a cat named Archie, and two bearded dragons. My dream is to open a concert venue after I “retire.” My hobbies and interests include punk/ska music, going to shows that the local bands put on, hanging out at the local gaming stores with friends, watching anime (Plus Ultra!), and cooking. I enjoy working at Midway because unlike many of the other veterinarians out there that can seem more “corporate” and cold, Dr. Howell and the staff here try to create a more personal experience with the clients and shows genuine care for the patients they all treat. See you guys when you come around. Peace.
Sam Lopez, Vet Technician
My name is Sam and I have been with Midway for many years now. I was born in Puerto Rico. I enjoy learning, which is very evident if you look at my college transcripts. I have studied marine biology, aquaculture, life guarding, and finally decided to stick with the veterinarian technician program. I am a certified veterinarian technician as of 2014. My hobbies include fishing, gardening, going to reggae concerts, and making up new dance moves (which I consider a specialty). I am very high energy, so it allows me to keep up with the fast pace environment of a veterinary hospital. I enjoy working at Midway so much that I drive here from Tampa every day. See you soon! ¡Hasta luego!
Bonnie Farago, Veterinarian Technician
Hello! My name is Bonnie. I’ve been a veterinarian technician for 12 years now. I graduated with my CVT/RVT in 2009 from Columbus State in Ohio. I have two cats named Izzybella and Sophee as well as a dog named Jo. Not only do I work with small animals here at the hospital, but in my spare time I also volunteer my time at the Big Cat Rescue. I have been with the Big Cat Rescue for 3 years now and have the title of Senior Keeper. I enjoy reading, traveling, and anything involving the beach and the outdoors such as running and volleyball. I’m very happy to be a part of the Midway team and look forward to taking care of your animals!
RaeAnne VandenBroeck, Veterinarian Technician
I’m RaeAnne and I am a veterinarian technician here at Midway Animal Hospital. I already have my CVA and I graduated IRSC with an AA degree in 2013 and started the vet tech program immediately thereafter. I’m happy to say that I also got my CVT at the end of 2014. My hobbies include rewatching Bob’s Burgers and gardening. I listen to a lot of both old and new metal/rock and enjoy playing both darts and pool when I get a chance to unwind. Looking forward to meeting your pets!
Jennifer Opel
Hello, everyone! My name is Jennifer. I was born in Long Island, NY and raised in the Seminole, FL area for 14 years before moving to PA. I moved back to this area after 11 years in PA, bringing my black and white cat named Shadow and started working at Midway. I graduated after 4 ½ years of study from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA in May of 2012 with a BA in Veterinary Medical Technology and a minor in business. The Lord has blessed me with a love of people and animals which has lead me down this path. I love wolves, writing, painting, drawing, but first and foremost, the Lord Himself. Have a blessed day!
